Our Technology

Surgical Microscopes & Imaging

We take pride in the fact that our doctors use a surgical microscope for all endodontic procedures. The use of specialized operating microscopes greatly enhances the precision and efficiency of each endodontic procedure by enabling a magnified and illuminated view of the delicate root canal anatomy during all phases of treatment. The additional magnification and illumination also allows for the identification of small details such as calcified canals and fractures within the roots. Use of the surgical microscope allows for more accurate diagnosis and treatment and improves the potential outcome of the treatment from “good” to “excellent”. Our surgical microscopes are equipped with high resolution video and digital photography systems allowing for enhanced communication and documentation for patients and their referring dentists.

Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT)

3D imaging provides better quality and more detailed images than traditional x-rays. This new technology is also less invasive and emits less radiation than traditional x-ray machines. It can create a range of images from single tooth to full sinus for a more comprehensive diagnosis. Cone Beam imaging also aids in the diagnosis of root fractures.

At Perry Endodontics, we use 3D Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) to capture detailed, three-dimensional views of teeth and surrounding structures. This advanced imaging technology enhances diagnostics and treatment planning by providing exceptional clarity, enabling precise execution of complex procedures, and improving overall treatment outcomes. CBCT allows us to:

  • Visualize intricate root canal anatomy with exceptional clarity and detail, enabling more accurate diagnoses and precise treatment planning.
  • Evaluate complex dental conditions, including fractures, infections, and pathologies, with unmatched accuracy.
  • Plan and execute complex procedures, such as root canal therapy, retreatment, and surgical interventions, with greater precision.

The use of CBCT results in greater precision and ensures personalized, safe, and effective care for our patients.

Digital X-Ray

We utilize a low radiation digital x-ray system which reduces the amount of radiation needed as compared to traditional film x-rays. The improved diagnostic capability of digital x-rays and the ability to view the x-rays on a computer screen allow patients to better understand and follow treatment. Digital x-rays are instant and there is no longer a need to develop film resulting in very green technology. Eliminating film and chemical waste is better for everyone and our environment!

Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

Using Electronic Medical Records our practice is able to quickly and accurately access patient information in order to provide the utmost in patient care. This helps to ensure patient confidentiality as well as reduce the need for paper. Using a digital format allows for quick access to your information when needed for insurance records yet provides a secure filing system.

Ultra Quiet Electric Handpieces

These handpieces provide less vibration and noise than traditional dental drills. Not only are they quieter, but also more efficient in tooth preparation making dental procedures shorter and more manageable.

Ultrasonic Handpieces

Ultrasonic instruments use ultrasonic energy during endodontic procedures to allow greater precision and accuracy without requiring invasive measures. They are used to remove harmful bacteria within the root canal and aid in the location of calcified canals.

Laser Therapy

Laser technology in endodontics enhances root canal disinfection and tissue removal by delivering concentrated energy to eliminate bacteria in hard-to-reach areas, improving procedural efficiency and reducing patient discomfort. Lasers are especially effective at decontaminating the intricate root canal system, including microscopic tubules where traditional methods may struggle to reach.

This minimally invasive technology can also help preserve healthy tissue during treatment, promoting more conservative care. The precision and adaptability of laser technology provide endodontists with an advanced tool to complement traditional methods, enhancing the overall treatment process for patients.

Wi-Fi

Our office offers free Wi-Fi for our patients use while visiting our office.

Frequently Asked Questions About Technology in Endodontics

Are all forms of technology safe?
Yes, all the technology used at Perry Endodontics is FDA-approved and has undergone rigorous testing and research to ensure its safety. We are committed to using only proven, reliable equipment to provide the highest level of care.
Does it cost more to use technology?
Our investment in the integration of advanced technology does not increase the cost of services for our patients. In fact, technology often reduces the overall cost of endodontic treatment by improving efficiency, enhancing accuracy, and minimizing the need for additional procedures.
Do dental X-Rays and CBCT scans expose patients to radiation?
Digital X-rays and Cone Beam technology significantly reduce radiation exposure compared to traditional methods. The radiation is concentrated on specific areas being imaged, ensuring safety with no harmful side effects.
Does dental insurance cover technology?
Endodontic diagnostics and procedures performed with technology are typically covered by insurance. For detailed information about your specific plan, we recommend contacting your insurance provider.
How do operating microscopes reduce the need for endodontic retreatment?
Operating microscopes enhance precision and accuracy during endodontic procedures, allowing endodontists to provide complete and thorough treatment of the root canals. These advanced tools enable the removal of less tooth structure, making procedures more minimally invasive while ensuring the location and treatment of additional tiny canals that might otherwise be missed. This level of detail reduces the risk of reinfection and the need for retreatment, improving the long-term success of the procedure.
